Odisha ace Ansu Kumar Buyan capped the year with double crown in the AITA Men`s 50k MBM Gurukul Tennis Tournament, which was organised by Bihar Lawn Tennis Association at Patliputra Tennis Centre in Patna from Dec 26 to 31.
Top seed Bhuyan clinched the double, winning both the singles and doubles titles in the five-day tournament. In the singles final, he fought back from a set down to defeat Rupesh Roy of West Bengal 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Bhuyan and his statemate Abhilash Chandra Sahoo won the doubles final, getting the better of Chandra Sekhar Mohanty and Rohit Rampuria 7-6(4), 6-3. With this double, Bhubaneswar lad Bhuyan ended the year with a total of six AITA men’s titles, which include three singles and as many doubles. On the other hand, this was a maiden AITA men’s doubles crown for Abhilash, who belongs to Bhubaneswar.
